Holy Week Community Worship Services

The First Christian Church, the First Presbyterian Church, and the First United Methodist Church of Pauls Valley traditionally share hosting community worship services for Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday. We started Lent with a beautiful and meaningful Ash Wednesday service atthe First United Methodist Church. Trinity Baptist also has a variety of activities on Good Friday.

See below for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday details.

  • Maundy Thursday: Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Maundy Thursday is the night Jesus ate his last supper with his disciples. "Maundy" comes from the word Mandate, when Jesus gave us the mandate to "Love one another as I have loved you." This year, the First Presbyterian Church will host a meditative communion service with music from the Taize Community in France. This service is at 6:00pm. For more information check out the First Presbyterian Church blog post about it.
  • Good Friday: Friday, April 18, 2025.
    • Trinity Baptist is planning to have their church open for prayer from noon to 3:00pm.
    • Our lives are sometimes filled with shadows. Jesus’ final hours were also filled with shadows: the shadow of betrayal, the shadow of desertion, the shadow of lethargy, the shadow of violence, the shadow of denial, the shadow of cynicism, the shadow of irresponsibility, and the shadow of mockery. Please join us on Friday, April 18th, 2025 at 6:00pm at the First Christian Church as we reflect on the profound significance of Good Friday, marking Jesus Christ's crucifixion. All are welcome to come and be a part of this beautiful and meaning service.
    • We are blessed with abundant choices. Trinity Baptist will also have a Good Friday worship service that evening at 6:00pm.

We hope you will celebrate Easter Sunday, April 20 with the people of your own congregation. If you don't have one, we are sure that any of the Ministerial Alliance churches would be happy to welcome you.
